Coach/Assistant Coach
"

When we end a game with huddle, shouting "Go Malden!" a chill runs through me: all of us together, we really are a team."
Haven't coached before? Coached adult soccer but not youth? MYS provides training and resources for coaches and assistant coaches, including paying for coaches and assistant coaches to attend the first two Massachusetts Youth Soccer certificate courses (for G and F licenses). Get started online with the Mass Youth Soccer
Resource Library, which includes training material and practice plans.
All coaches must be licensed within the first year they start coaching: a minimum of a G license for Intown, and a minimum of F for Travel. If it is a coach's first year coaching, s/he must have the appropriate license by the second season. We occasionally sponsor G and F certificate courses locally, and subsidize licensing costs.
If you become a coach and are licensed, after one season your child can participate in
MYS for free.
All coaches must have a
CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) request filed with our
registrar.
If you're thinking about being or want to become an assistant coach or head coach, contact the
Coach Training Coordinator/Recruiter.
