Please note: all U10, U12, and U14 players must attend Placements on June 14, 2008 (PDF). Your child's participation in Placements on June 14 will allow us to place her/him on the team that best matches their skill
level as we have teams at different division levels. This
evaluation is mandatory. If your child does not come, he/she
will be placed on a team where there are openings.
For complete information about placements, please read the flyer (PDF).
For dates and times for in-person registration, please see the calendar.
The Middlesex Youth Soccer League requires Malden Youth Soccer to turn in completed rosters for all teams in early July, along with a fee for each team entered. The number of teams that each member league of the MYSL enters into competition varies each year/season depending on player turnout. Once MYSL has received the thousands of entries into leagues for the season, they will spend nearly two months sorting them into divisions (trying to respect division membership requests from all the various leagues) and develop a workable schedule for competition.
As with Malden Youth Soccer staff, the Middlesex Youth Soccer Staff is composed of volunteers. This is the reason that such a long lead time is required in order to do a complete job. By extending our own deadline until mid-June, we are placing a large load on our own staff to assign all players who have registered to teams within a few short days after the deadline. We also cannot guarantee any room on our teams for anyone who attempts to register after this task has been completed.
It is a difficult task to recruit coaches for our teams and plan out a schedule, especially due to an often limited number of quality fields available in Malden. In order to lessen the load on our volunteer staff, we want to give them as much lead time as possible to plan out their seasons. In addition, it simply makes sense to match the travel and in-city signup dates to prepare parents for when their children graduate to our travel program.
